Blackpool's new-look Moor Park Health and Leisure Centre is to hold an open weekend on 2 and 3 July, following an expansion programme carried out by the local authority.

Facilities include a four-court sports hall; a 25m swimming pool and separate teaching pool; and a fitness suite developed in partnership with Life Fitness. The fitness suite boasts a bespoke floor plan and offers more than 50 pieces of Life Fitness equipment, including the Elevation Engage cv series and Signature Series Cable Motion.

In addition to the leisure facilities, Moor Park Health and Leisure Centre incorporates three GP surgeries; a chemist; a library and learning centre; and a physiotherapy centre. Moor Park Health and Leisure Centre head of Leisure John Hawkin said: "Life Fitness used their expertise to deliver a fitness suite that will bring the community together to participate in fitness and improve their health."

Life Fitness territory development manager - north Andy Gill added: "We worked in collaboration with Blackpool Council to ensure their needs were met - ultimately promoting preventative medicine, increasing participation and engagement in exercise." The centre will open for general use on 4 July.
