New multi-use pitch for Dublin
A new all-weather, multi-use sports pitch has been unveiled in central Dublin, Republic of Ireland, as part of a wider regeneration scheme at the St Teresa's Gardens complex.
Dublin City Council (DCC) has worked in partnership with local residents to develop new community facilities, including the installation of the new pitch facilities, which were supplied and installed by Emerald Pitch Developments. The all-weather pitch, which was opened on 12 February and includes integrated goals and basketball hoops, is a joint scheme between DCC, the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and the Irish government's Department for Arts, Sports and Tourism.
Eibhlin Byrne, lord mayor of Dublin, said: "I know there are many aspiring footballers here who dream of playing football for their country. I hope this pitch will encourage them to have the determination and commitment to achieve and realise their dreams."
