New owner for London's Hotel Verta
Christie + Co has confirmed that London's Hotel Verta, which was formerly part of the von Essen portfolio, has been acquired by a private buyer in a deal worth "around £20m".
The 70-bedroom property, which is located between Battersea and Wandsworth bridges, has been sold on behalf of joint administrators Maurice Moses of Ernst and Young.
Hotel Verta and Verta Properties entered administration separate from von Essen in July and, according to the Evening Standard, has been bought by Nicholas Cowell, brother of X Factor mogul Simon.
Facilities at Hotel Verta include the subterranean Spa Verta, which comprises a hydro-vitality pool; a sanarium; heated loungers; a steamroom; a sauna; and five treatment rooms.
A relaxation area and a fitness suite are also among the property's facilities, in addition to the Patrisey restaurant. The hotel is located to adjacent to the London Heliport.
Hong Kong-based Rhombus International Hotels Group has announced it has taken over the management of the property, which opened in September 2010.
Christie + Co director of London hotels David Creamore said: "The new owners have acquired a superb and rare opportunity to gain a foothold in London's hotel marketplace.
"Its situation near the London Heliport, its views over the Thames and its commitment to style and luxury make Hotel Verta one of the unique hotel experiences in the capital."
