New sports facility to open in Doncaster
Doncaster deputy mayor Patricia Schofield is to open a new sports facility at Cantley Park on 24 February.
A multi-use games area and grass football pitches will be provided at the venue, in addition to a pavilion with eight changing rooms, a referees room and a community room. Sustainable features have been incorporated into the construction of the building, including high-efficiency condensing boilers and air source heat pumps.
The facility - to provide a base for Bessacarr Football Club and other Sunday League adult teams - has been funded with a £480,000 Football Foundation grant. Section 106 contributions have also gone towards the development of the complex, which is also set to provide facilities for other park users.
Schofield said: "The new pavilion has replaced a very outdated 1950s building which was beyond repair. "This facility will be an invaluable resource for the local community and help encourage people of all ages to get involved in sport."
