New stadium plans for Camberley Town FC
Camberley Town Football Club (CTFC) has revealed plans for a new £3.5m stadium, clubhouse and five-a-side football centre.
Subject to planning consent, CTFC is looking to move from Krooner Park, their home since 1923, to a new stadium next to the existing ground.
The old Krooner Park ground will then be redeveloped as a five-a-side football centre as part of wider plans to improve sports and recreation facilities in Camberley.
Ronnie Wilson, chair of CTFC, said: "Over the past 90 years CTFC has struggled with a lack of money and below standard facilities.
“This fantastic scheme is an opportunity to secure the long-term future of the Club and ensure it remains a key asset for the town."
Plans also include new mini grass football pitches on nearby Crabtree Rec, a former waste ground, for formal and informal community use.
The proposals have been designed to be sympathetic to the current appearance of the Rec and will ensure that the area remains open for dog walkers, skate park users and all others.
The club is currently in advanced negotiations with its landlord, Surrey Heath Borough Council, on the scheme and will be submitting a planning application for the proposals this summer.
