Nottingham RFC secures ground injunction
Nottingham Rugby Football Club (NRFC) has obtained a High Court injunction against Notts County Football Club (NCFC) over the football club's decision to terminate a ground-sharing agreement.
On 24 July, NRFC revealed that it could be left homeless after NCFC - which has recently been acquired by Munto Finance - ended a three-year deal that enabled the rugby club to play its home fixtures at the Meadow Lane stadium. NRFC will now be allowed to host Leicester Tigers in a pre-season friendly on 15 August after the High Court ruled against NCFC, which had brought an end to the ground-sharing agreement on the grounds that it would not be "commercially advantageous".
In a statement, NCFC said: "Our main focus throughout the dispute has been to develop, maintain and protect a first-class playing surface that can attract and retain the quality of players and accommodate the level of football necessary to achieve its goals for the growth of the club. "We will abide by the court ruling but regrets any detrimental effects the ruling may have on our progress and our own drive for promotion this coming season."
