Nottingham kids get play boost
Nottingham City Council’s Playful Nottingham scheme has received £894,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to develop play provision in the city.
The scheme is estimated to benefit up to 15,000 children and will focus on six projects.
The monies will provide supervised adventure play activities in local parks, create new play areas for toddlers, introduce community play spaces in local schools, set up a street play project, create a new community play area and provide special staff to work with children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
Councillor David Trimble from the Nottingham City Council said: “We worked closely with partners in the voluntary sector, including the Nottingham Play Forum, to create a wider play strategy and assist with the funding application.
The funding will also enable the updating of equipment at several city parks.
