The future of a swimming pool in Oadby, near Leicester, is up for debate as part of a review of leisure provision in the borough.

One possible suggestion is closing the pool and building a new one at the Parklands leisure centre, which is located 0.6m (1km) away from the current pool facility.

Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, which owns the pool, has said that it is keen to build on the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

A public consultation was launched in February inviting comments on the sport and leisure facilities.

The council has said that it is committed to keeping a pool in Oadby and Wigston and that proposals are due to be discussed at a meeting of the policy, finance and development committee on 23 July.
