Parry joins North West Regional Sports Board
Former international swimmer Stephen Parry has been appointed to the North West Regional Sports Board (NWRSB).
Parry, who won a bronze medal in the 200m butterfly at the Athens Olympics, has retired from competitive swimming, but remains involved in the sport through work with the Amateur Swimming Association and his company, Totalswimming.
Andy Worthington, chair of the NWRSB, said: "It is great news for sport in the North West that people of the calibre, experience and commitment of Stephen are working with us to develop sport in the community.
"He brings new insights into the power of sport and will help inform decisions on funding and promoting sport across our region."
Parry said: "I am completely passionate about sport. I am keen to do what I can in the drive to increase participation because the benefits to us all would be huge. Sport has given me a lot in my life – now I have the chance to give something back."
