A planning application for a £25m town centre development in Catterick Garrison will be submitted to Richmondshire District Council at the end of May, following public consultation earlier in the month.

The plans include a five-screen cinema, several major retail units, a supermarket, cycle path and space for restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as a 60-room hotel and 400 carparking spaces.

Developers say the scheme, to be built on a former sports ground currently owned by the Ministry of Defence, would generate 700 jobs.
