Plans revealed for £2.56m sports academy in Burnley
Plans have been submitted to build £2.56m sports academy on Burnley's Prairie playing fields in Lancashire.
Burnley Borough Council has received plans to redevelop the council-owned site, into a new artificial "3G" pitch, revamped pavilion and a golf driving range.
The 3G pitch would be used by UK-based American football team Burnley Tornadoes as well as for rugby league.
The golf range will feature a grassroots-coaching academy and the new changing pavilion would house a gym, sports studio and a golf shop.
Burnley FC officials are keen to base their advanced training academy, centre of excellence for women and girls' football and disabled football programme at the site.
Meanwhile, rugby league chiefs are looking to use the new site to develop the game in the area.
