Plans submitted for King's Cross scheme
A reserved matters planning application has been submitted for Camden Council's planned new multi-service complex in King's Cross, London, which is to include a sports centre.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that King's Cross Central Limited Partnership (KCCLP) and the local authority had agreed terms for the lease and development management. LA Architects are behind the design of the Three Pancras Square development, which is set to house a two-floor sports facility including a 25m, five-lane pool with adjustable floor.
A small lagoon-style pool; a poolside spa area with sauna and steamroom; a fitness suite to incorporate more than 100 stations; and two group exercise studios are also proposed. Three Pancras Square is also earmarked to feature a library and a customer contact centre in an attempt by Camden Council to bring a number of its services under one roof.
A spokesperson for the council said: "The plans will significantly reduce the amount of taxpayers' money spent on repair and maintenance bills for council offices and ensure that much-needed funds will not be taken away from front-line services."
