Plans underway for a US$350m sports complex in New Jersey
Plans are underway for a US$350m (£219m, 269m euro) sports complex and destination resort in Vineland, New Jersey, US.
Magic Sports – a private company headed by entrepreneur Ron Nametko and developer Sora Northeast Development – have submitted a proposal for the privately funded Magic Sports Complex to the Vineyard zoning board.
Plans for the complex include indoor and outdoor facilities for hosting training camps and leagues for competitive tournament events in track and field, baseball, softball and soccer.
Magic Sports' complex will offer multiple venues for athletes to train and compete year round, from youth sports to college, professional and Olympic training; also Paralympics and special population athletes' competition.
The facility will also house medical services and health and wellness programmes.
A Vineland land purchase is under agreement with South Jersey Industries' Energy and Minerals for 248.6 acres, with an additional adjacent 40 acres under agreement with local resident Jay Morie.
Phase one of construction will include a 'Magic Village' to house travelling athletes competing in tournaments at the complex, as well as support services and facilities to address the needs of the athletes.
A hotel to be developed in phase two of the project will accommodate athletes' families.
Plans also include developing sports related career training with television and radio broadcast facilities.
The proposed plan for the complex is for it to be built in two phases from 2013 until 2015.
