Prince Charles to open Ayrshire hotel
The Prince of Wales is to develop a hotel in East Ayrshire, Scotland.
Prince Charles bought Dumfries House estate in Cumnock three years ago in order to stop it being sold publicly, and now The Scotsman has reported that he intends to develop a hotel and a training centre that will teach young people traditional skills.
Charles was quoted as saying: "Bringing back to life such an important historic house and preserving the beauty, art and craftsmanship of its contents is one thing, but I felt that the land around the house could also act as a powerful catalyst for the regeneration of the whole area.
"[The Prince's Charities Foundation] also plans to build a hotel, create a centre of excellence for skills training and to develop a new mixed-use urban extension to Cumnock."
The Prince is understood to be putting a planning application together to be submitted to East Ayrshire Council.
