PureGym wins UK health and fitness app of the year award
The PureGym app has been named the Health and Fitness App of the Year at this year's UK App Awards.
First launched in 2013 as a way to locate the nearest Pure Gym, book and cancel classes, the app has since developed into an online fitness platform, featuring more than 400 different workouts of various levels.
It offers users the tools to build personalised workouts and create goals and options include cardio, strength and HIIT classes, as well as low-impact options and core stability and stretching sessions.
In January 2021, when the UK entered the third pandemic lockdown, PureGym made the app free to everyone in the UK.
Until then, the PureGym app had been only available to gym members.
Lucian Weston, digital and business development director at PureGym, said: "This is a fantastic result, achieved by a considerable team effort."
Held annually, the UK App Awards celebrate and reward excellence in apps developed in the UK or for the UK market.
Each of the 19 categories recognise exceptional design and UX in a range of verticals and there are awards for agencies, individuals and in-house teams.
