New US$27m Aquacolors waterpark opens in Croatia
A new waterpark has opened on the coast of Croatia near Porec, featuring water attractions from Turkish supplier Polin.
The 10-hectare (25-acre) development, named Aquacolors, is one of the first waterparks in the country and one of the largest in southeast Europe.
The US$27m (€24m, £18m) waterpark features Polin’s first installation of the Magicone slide in Europe. The funnel-style slide provides riders a steep drop into the cone before they are sent whirling into its interior and ejected into a run-out section.
Local dignitaries attended the opening ceremony in May, where the Mayor of Porec was photographed trying out a waterslide fully dressed in his business suit. Frantisek Studenka is the Czech investor reportedly behind the project.
Other rides include Polin’s family rafting slide, a freefall slide, a multi-lane slide and two looping rocket slides.
As well as a 50m (165ft) lazy river and variety of pools and wave pools, there is a selection of children’s activities in the kids’ zone. Polin’s Aquatower waterplay structure offers slides, tipping buckets, water cannons and fountains. Elsewhere in the brightly-coloured park there are restaurants, a relaxation zone, beach volleyball, table football, a rodeo, a boxing ring and badminton.
