REPs hits the airwaves
Cliff Collins, REPs registrar, recorded over a dozen radio interviews on 5 January to publicise the work of the Register of Exercise Professionals.
Collins said: “The goal of this activity is to spread the word about the REPs so members of the public ask about registration when they are joining health clubs and leisure centres or employing personal trainers.”
The interviews reached an audience spread across the whole country including national stations such as TalkSport and Saga, and regional stations in areas as far a field as Glasgow, London and Somerset.
Some went out live and others were pre-recorded for broadcast this week, with an anticipated reach of over 4.3 million people.
Within the interviews, Collins explained the rationale behind the creation of the register to show how the fitness industry and government are working together to raise standards and get the public active.
