Badminton England has confirmed that Redbridge Sports & Leisure is to receive Performance Centre accreditation, adding to the existing 18 centres nationwide.

Badminton England aims to accredit 50 Performance Centres throughout the country and be the world leader in the sport by 2016.

Each centre is designed to offer quality facilities and coaching for players that show potential, using a blueprint laid out by Badminton England.

Redbridge, which has stepped up a level from being awarded Premier Club status in 2008, now hopes to build a new £3.75m, 12-court badminton hall, which is already earmarked as a potential pre-games training camp and games-time training venue for the London 2012 Olympics.
