Hark Group has announced that it is to undertake a strategic review of the retail and leisure options currently available in the centre of Telford, Shropshire.

The decision follows a series of developments that have entrenched Hark's bid to ensure a strong future for Telford town centre, such as the government review of the high street. Hark said that it is now considering the implications of the changes, which also include new measures from the local authority - particularly the creation of a new planning framework.

The group has announced that it is "accelerating" talks with cinema operators for a multi-screen venue and restaurant complex, as well as plans to enhance the town's retail offer. A Hark spokesperson said: "Recent positive developments at both a national and local level have prompted us to consider how best to continue the successful growth of Telford Town Centre.

"It is right therefore that we re-examine our current retail and leisure offer in the town centre and we are excited to announce that this is likely to include a new multiplex cinema and restaurant complex."
