The Rhondda Sports Centre has reopened to the public following a £6m refurbishment programme.

New facilities at the centre include a multi-station fitness suite, a new dance studio and group exercise amenities.

The existing swimming pool has also been redeveloped and significant structural improvements have been made to the building, along with a range of energy-efficiency measures, which will provide cost savings for Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, which operates the centre.

George Jones, the council’s group director of environmental services, said: “Good quality leisure facilities that are locally available and accessible are the order of the day when people are being encouraged to lead healthier lifestyles and participate in sport and physical activity.

“Rhondda Sports Centre certainly succeeds in providing such first-class facilities to the people of the county borough.”
