Clarins spa opens in iconic building in Rio
Situated in an iconic building originally designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and recognised as a national heritage site, the flagship Gran Melia Nacional Rio De Janeiro is now open.
The tubular skyscraper property which is located on the beachfront in Sao Conrado bay, has been extensively renovated to create 413 hotel rooms, including two presidential and 10 executive suites set over 34 floors, and features the only Clarins spa in Latin America.
Renowned Brazilian interior designer, Debora Aguiar, has designed all of the hotel’s communal areas including the rooftop, while US-based Studio VOA renovated the bedrooms.
With four massage rooms, two jacuzzis, a sauna, hydro massage bathtubs, Turkish bath and relaxation room, Spa by Clarins offers treatments and rituals including the Aromatic Hot Stones Massage using Relax or Tonic essential oils; Ultra-Hydrating Facial using organic Leaf of Life which enhances the skin’s ability to retain moisture, and the 3.5 hour Clarins Ritual, which includes an aromatic bath, exfoliation, massage and facial.
Other services include Aromatic Baths - a 30 minute spa bath experience with added essential oil - and a four hands massage.
Each treatment finishes with a final ritual to complete the client experience.
Also on site is a swimming pool and terrace, gym and fitness room with personal trainers and sea views.
