Rugby House venue unveiled at Twickenham
Rugby House, a new conference and events complex that forms part of the South Stand development at Twickenham Stadium, London, has been officially unveiled by Twickenham Experience Limited (TEL).
The purpose-built facility features an additional 5,000sq m (53,820sq ft) of space for conferences and exhibitions, while the venue's Live Room boasts a stage and tiered seating for 400 people to cater for live performances and presentations. Receptions for 600 guests can also be accommodated at the Live Room, which forms part of the Rugby House development along with the Rose Suite - capable of holding dinners for up to 800 people.
Chris Morris, managing director of TEL - a joint venture between the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and food services provider Compass Group, said: "Our aim is to ensure that Twickenham remains the leading player on the international business stage." The development also includes the four-star, 156-bedroom London Marriott Hotel Twickenham, which features six suites overlooking the pitch with balcony access within the South Stand and the 22 South Chop House restaurant.
A café lounge and the Side Step Bar also form part of the hotel element, while a new Virgin Active health club has also been opened at Twickenham Stadium as part of the wider redevelopment of the South Stand, along with the Rugy Store and the World Rugby Museum. The multi-million pound project, which was delivered by Wolverhampton-based construction company Carillion to increase stadium capacity to 82,000, was fully funded by the RFU.
