RugbyWA moves into new AU$17m home
West Australian Premier Colin Barnett and minister for sport and recreation Terry Waldron have opened a new AU$17m (£11m, EUR12m, US$17m) state rugby union base.
RugbyWA has now moved to the Mt Claremont facility, which was delivered under budget and offers indoor training facilities; a gym; and hydrotherapy and shower facilities. A small theatre; strength and conditioning areas; a players' lounge; a video room; and massage, physiotherapy and sports medicine clinic for the Western Force team are also included.
RugbyWA chair Dr Russel Perry said: "The WA Rugby Centre will enable RugbyWA to continue to develop the code across the spectrum of playing, coaching and refereeing, from grassroots to the elite level. "This is without doubt the most significant event for rugby in WA since the introduction of the Emirates Western Force some six years ago."
