SIV to offer 'Olympic taster sessions'
Sheffield International Venues (SIV) is hoping to benefit from the increased exposure of Winter Olympic sports – such as speed skating and curling.
The operator will host free taster sessions at its iceSheffield venue during this month as part of efforts to make the sports more accessible and to increase future footfall at the site.
Members of the public will also be able to have a go at figure skating, ice dance and ice hockey during the sessions, which will be available for the duration of the Winter Olympics.
Mandy Janes, general manager at iceSheffield, said: "In celebration of the Winter Olympics we wanted to give members of the public the opportunity to come down to the venue and try something different.
"The Winter Olympics are a fantastic way of increasing interest in these particular sports and we hope offering taster sessions will inspire people to want to have a go."
