SOLL Leisure centres raise £4,000 for children’s charity
The Swimathon 2006 held at Thame Leisure Centre, Wantage Leisure Centre and Didcot Wave Pool has raised £4,220 for children’s charity NCH.
The three centres are run by sports trust, SOLL Leisure.
Simon Jones, event organiser at Thame Leisure Centre, said: “It’s really good to know that the money raised will make such a difference to the lives of others.
“Swimathon was a fun event to organise and it brought out a fantastic community spirit at the pool. Many of the spectators who came to support friends and family on the day said that they would like to join next year, so we’re looking forward to an even bigger turnout for Swimathon 2007.”
Of all the money raised, 80 per cent will go to NCH and 20 per cent will go to The Swimathon Foundation which provides funding for smaller, local charities and other not-for-profit organisations.
