Former Olympic and Commonwealth gold medallist Sally Gunnell has unveiled a new-look gym at Bury St Edmonds Leisure Centre, Suffolk, following a £250,000 refurbishment.

Abbeycroft Leisure manages the facility, which has received more than 110 pieces of Matrix Fitness equipment as part of the scheme - including the Virtual Active workout experience.

Work also included the creation of a new functional training area, which incorporates a TRX suspension area and a Power Plate zone. New kettle bells, powerbags and viper training bars are also available.

Abbeycroft Leisure fitness manager Matt Hickey said: "The new gym and Matrix Fitness kit is already proving a hit with members and was designed from their wish list of equipment.

"As a leisure trust and social enterprise, Abbeycroft Leisure ploughs all profits made back into providing health and fitness and this has allowed us to provide this fantastic facility."
