Scone Palace hosts The Archers
Scone Palace, has been given the thumbs up by Britain’s longest running radio soap opera, The Archers.
Staff at the Palace were delighted when newlyweds Oliver Stirling and Caroline Pemberton announced on air that they were looking forward to going to Scone Palace for their honeymoon – but when the production team and actors actually turned up at the Scottish Conservancy Game Fair at the start of July, they took everyone by surprise!
Elspeth Bruce, administrator at Scone Palace said: “We were surprised and delighted when we heard them mention Scone Palace on air, and how much they were looking forward to visiting, but we never for one minute dreamt that they would actually turn up!”
The team spent several hours at the fair, recording scenes for an episode of the programme.
Michael Cochrane and Sara Coward, who play Oliver and Caroline in the soap, said of their visit: “The people and the setting at Scone were wonderful and we had a great time there.”
