The Scottish Parliament is expected to approve new laws related to the organisation of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

According to the BBC, the new laws – which aim to provide new powers for combating ticket touts, street traders and unauthorised ticketing – are likely to be in place by the end of May.

Touts could face fines of up to £5,000, Trading Standards officers will be able seize offending merchandise, cover billboards and search premises where they suspect offences are being committed, while Glasgow City Council will be able to take out compulsory purchase orders on land it requires for the Games.
