Boom Cycle opens Monument studio as Shoreditch operation closes
Boutique brand Boom Cycle has closed the Shoreditch studio where it launched in London in 2011, opening a new club in Monument.
Rather than revamp the Shoreditch operation the company has shut the site, which it said has “fallen beneath the standards” set for its riders.
Following the opening of a new studio in Monument this week, the brand maintains four sites in the capital – with the others in Holborn, Hammersmith and Battersea.
In an interview with Health Club Management in August, co-founder Hilary Rowland said its Hammersmith and Battersea clubs, which opened last year, were “much bigger” than any of its previous studios, with larger standalone recovery areas, an improved retail offering and more space for riders.
The Monument club in Lombard Court was formerly home to Cycle Beat, which Boom Cycle acquired in November.
The studio offers up to 30 classes a week that combine music and weights for a full body workout, using a Funktion-One sound system and Schwinn bikes.
“Boom Cycle Monument starts an exciting part of the journey for us,” founders Hilary and Robert Rowland said.
“We're really looking forward to getting to know our city riders and extend our community further east.”
