Southwest Wales holiday resort gets green light for £7m SkyDome
Bluestone National Park Resort has been granted planning permission for a huge transparent dome that will contain an amphitheatre and range of adventure activities.
The tourist attraction, in Pembrokeshire, Wales, is erecting the SkyDome to offer a variety of leisure options to its guests, including ropes courses and caving, cafés, shops and play areas.
The £7m (US$9.7m, €7.9m) dome, which is about 7,000sq m (75,347sq ft) and 116 metres (380ft) tall, was provisionally approved by Pembrokeshire council.
With construction work set to begin imminently and a predicted timeframe of 15 months, the SkyDome could open as soon as 2019.
Bluestone National Park Resort offers a range of accommodations and lodges, outdoor activities in nature, a spa and a waterpark. It welcomes up to 3,000 visitors a week.
