Treehotel opens in Sweden
A hotel where the suites are suspended in the treetops has opened in Sweden.
The hotel - which comprises of four suites hanging in the treetops of Harads in Swedish Lapland - was developed by the husband-and-wife team of Kent and Britta Lindvall, with financial backing from Swedbank, Norrlandsfonden and Länsstyrelsen.
The four treerooms - the Bird's Nest, the Mirrorcube, the Cabin and the Blue Cone - are all unique and were designed by different architects, namely Sandell & Sandberg, Interior Group AB, Marten Cyrene, Tham & Videgård Hansson Architects.
Every tree room has its own living and sleeping areas. Two of the suites will accommodate two beds and the other two tree rooms will have four and each tree room is equipped with an incineration toilet and water-efficient hand basin.
There are two more suites to be opened in the coming months - the UFO in October and A Room With a View by the end of the year - with the total of the first six cabins amounting to 5m Swedish krona (£440,000, 530,300 euros, US$701,200).
The hotel also boasts a Tree Sauna, which can hold 12 people at once.
The Lindvalls are planning to expand the Treehotel, and intend to build 20 more cabins in the next five years.
