Revamps for Tameside leisure centres
Three leisure centres in Tameside, Greater Manchester, are to be redeveloped after a partnership pledged to invest £7m in the region’s fitness provision.
The funding has been made available by a partnership between Tameside Council, Tameside Sports Trust and Pulse Fitness, and will result in major works carried out on the Copley Centre in Stalybridge, the Hyde Leisure Pool and Ashton Pool over the next 18 months.
The Copley Centre will be fitted out with a new 130-station fitness suite supplied by Pulse, a 24-station school fitness suite, new dance studio, and health suite incorporating treatment rooms.
Ashton Pool will receive a 63-station fitness suite, a new changing village for the pool and improvements to its entrance lobby.
The fitness facilities at Hyde Leisure Pool will be upgraded to include a new 50-station fitness suite, a new health suite and dance studio.
Neil Chaisty, head of Tameside Sports Trust commented, “The new facilities will help us to get more people in the Tameside region active.
“By providing state of the art facilities with the most up to date equipment local people will have access to many different forms of activity.
“We are aiming to get 1700 people a year active in Tameside to meet the targets set by Sport England.”
