Sports investors take top spots in London Rich List
The Evening Standard’s London Rich List 2004 has named Chelsea FC owner, Roman Abramovich, as London’s richest man – with a personal worth of £5.5bn.
Also in the top ten is Formula One boss, Bernie Ecclestone, ranked at number four with a £2.4bn fortune,
Other figures from the leisure industry featuring in the top 100 include chairman and CEO of the Travelex Group, Lloyd Dorfman on £633m and former Spurs chairman, Alan Sugar, on £600m.
Mohammed al Fayed, owner of Fulham FC ranks 27th with a £550m fortune; while brothers, Robert and Vincent Tchenguiz, who recently made £57m from the sale of Pubmaster to Punch, come in at 35th with a fortune of £400m.
Sir Cameron Mackintosh and hotelier Sir Rocco Forte make the list at 38th and 39th with personal fortunes of £383m and £375m respectively – both just ahead of Her Majesty the Queen with £350m.
Sir John and Peter Beckwith, whose property portfolio includes health club, ClubeVII, in Lisbon; Gerald Ronson who created the Heron brand and Jamie Palumbo, founder of Ministry of Sound, also all feature in the top 100.
