Image: SGA has lost its public funding due to the investigation

Duncan Macniven - former registrar general for Scotland from 2003 to 2011 - has been appointed to investigate the treatment of SGA staff and allegations that SGA had failed to comply with the application of its internal disciplinary and child protection policies.

Sportscotland has published the report into the allegations, which is highly critical of SGA's senior management (to download the full Sportscotland report into SGA's dealings, click here).

In a statement, Sportscotland said: "The report, coupled with the persistent refusal of SGA to work in partnership with the national agency for sport, has left us with no choice but to withhold public investment from SGA.

"Sportscotland no longer has any confidence in the current leadership of the governing body, and we will not sanction any public money going to SGA until full confidence is restored in the leadership and integrity of the organisation."

In response, SGA has called an EGM (Extraordinary General Meeting) to update its membership of the proceedings.

Last week, SGA reported that it had achieved an 18 per cent increase in membership over the last year.

The SGA is the national governing body for gymnastics in Scotland. It was established in 1890 and incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in 1997.
