Staffordshire leisure centre prepares for £200,000 revamp
A Lichfield leisure centre in Staffordshire is to undergo renovations after securing more than £200,000 from Sport England.
The Friary Grange revamp will include creating a viewing platform to the pool from an extended refreshment area, refurbishing the swimming pool changing rooms, relocating the main entrance, creating easier access into the leisure centre and pool.
The project, which will begin in July this year, is also being funded by Aiming High, Staffordshire County Council, Lichfield District Council and section 106 contributions.
The swimming pool will be closed for most of the summer but the rest of the leisure centre will remain open.
Councillor Val Richards said: “We are absolutely thrilled that by working in partnership, we have secured the funding needed for this ambitious project.
“The new entrance will make a better impression on leisure centre users, and the funding will also help us to improve access to the poolside for everyone, especially for people with mobility issues.”
