Stanley Leisure is set to open a £6.5m casino at Edinburgh’s Fountain Park next year.

The 30,000sq ft (2,800sq m) site, leased on a 25-year term from the leisure park’s owner, X-Leisure, is expected to open during the first half of 2007.

Stanley Leisure will be closing its existing, smaller Berkeley Casino in nearby Rutland Place.

Earlier this year, in March, a 25,000sq ft (2,300sq m) Electronic Mecca Bingo also opened at the Fountain Park. The 250,000sq ft (23,300sq m) site already boasts a 13-screen Cineworld cinema, an 18-lane MegaBowl, a 40,000sq ft (3,700sq m) Virgin Active health club and several bars and restaurants.
