In-Shape Health Clubs has submitted plans to open its second health club in Manteca, California, US.

Community development director Frederic Clark confirmed that the plans, which form part of The Promenade Shops development at Orchard Valley, are in the preliminary site review stage and that no target date has been for the issuance of a building permit.

The Manteca opening is part of California-based In-Shape’s expansion plans in the state, which include five other openings.

These five planned sites – all in California – include an In-Shape Sport Club in Modesto, which will house complete two indoor pools and a health spa; an outdoor pool with a waterslide; a racquetball court; large kids club with play maze, a female-only fitness studio and group exercise studios.

The other four in the pipeline are a 33,000sq ft In-Shape Sport in Pittsburg; an In-Shape Express club in Lemoore; a second Turlock location with an In-Shape Sport on Monte Vista Avenue; and a 39,000sq ft In-Shape Sport in Vacaville.

In-Shape was founded in 1981 and currently operates 42 locations in California.
