Barnet Football Club (BFC) has announced its plans to leave Underhill stadium, the npower League Two club's home for more than 100 years, at the end of the 2011-12 season.

The club had sought Football League permission to start next season at the venue, despite it being unable to guarantee an operating licence due to "long-standing land issues".

However, BFC has been told it will not be able start the 2012-13 season at Underhill if there was no contingency plan in place that would enable them to complete their fixtures.

BFC chair Tony Kleanthous said: "It's time we looked to our future and how we can achieve a final solution to our ground problems, because we have so many positives as a club and the foundations are in place for us to grow."
