Sydney’s Luna Park reopens
Sydney’s Luna Park amusement park reopened on 4 April, following an AUS$100m revamp.
First opened in 1935, Luna Park is was one of the most recognisable features of Sydney Harbour’s northern foreshore.
Shut for over eight years, the redevelopment and renovation of the park has retained popular rides such as Coney Island and the Wild Mouse, but also added a 2000-seat performance space, which comes complete with two foyer areas and can accommodate circuses.
Under the construction plans, there will now be public access to the Harbour foreshore, while the heritage cliff-top fig and coral trees have also been protected.
Other major features of the park’s redevelopment include the renovation of Crystal Palace into a five-star banqueting and function venue, the construction of a three-storey cafe with dining facilities that offers views across Sydney Harbour and the introduction of free entry into Luna Park.
