University of Manchester seeks advice on exercise for older adults
REPs members are being asked to take part in a research project looking at how to engage and maintain the participation of older adults in exercise classes.
The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at the University of Manchester hopes that responses from REPs members qualified to work with older adults will help ascertain current working practices with a view to taking them to the next level. The study is part of a PhD funded by the Medical Research Council and involves completing a short questionnaire. For more information click here. http://www.forms.manchester.ac.uk/surveys/qqi/
Helen Hawley, who is supervising the research, said: "At the moment we do not know how many qualified level 3 instructors are delivering classes to older adults nor what type of classes are on offer. "Initially we would like to find out more about this and eventually would like to gather research that will enable us to improve the uptake and retention levels of such classes."
