Buxton Crescent scheme put on hold
Plans for the multi-million pound Buxton Crescent Hotel and Thermal Spa development in Derbyshire have been put on hold while developers await the outcome of an archaeological survey.
The results of the survey, together with the findings of geotechnical and hydrological tests into the composition of the ground on which the historic building is situated, are to be used to assess existing designs for the scheme before construction work can begin. Jonathan Ogden, the project co-ordinator for European spa hotel operator Danubius Hotels, which will operate the property once complete, said that no decision has yet been made with regard to when work can get underway on the development.
Ogden said: "Taking account of the nature and sensitivity of the site and the Grade I-listed building, all development work is very carefully assessed." CP Holdings, the majority shareholder in Danubius Hotel, is working in partnership with High Peak Borough Council, Derbyshire County Council and developer Trevor Osborne Property Group on the scheme, along with Buxton Water owner, Nestlé.
