Open-air spa for Panama eco-development
An open-air jungle spa is to be included as part of a new eco-friendly private island resort scheme being developed by Amble Resorts in Panama.
Isla Palenque will be managed by the West Paces Hotel Group and has been designed by Design Workshop and 4240 Architecture with sustainability as a key focus. The spa will use natural plant extracts to provide invigorating treatments for the mind and body, with the open-air concept designed to immerse guests in the heart of the jungle.
Work is now underway on the resort's Villa Model Home for potential homeowners and guests to experience Isla Palenque, with completion due in mid-2011. It is expected that work will start on the first phase of the project later this year , which is to include a 30-room boutique hotel that will house the spa and infinity pool.
Facilities will also include a 220-acre (89-hectare) nature reserve; more than 10 miles (16.1km) of nature trails; a yacht club; and an organic farm. The resort and residential community is due to open in late 2012.
