MGM plans Washington resort
MGM Resorts International has submitted plans for a US$925m (€672m, £554m) casino complex at National Harbor, in Prince George’s County, Washington.
Site plans were filed last week and the company is hoping to break ground this summer. CEO of MGM National Harbor, Lorenzo Creighton, says the company is on an aggressive schedule to make its target opening date and is hoping to drive the permits and permissions through quickly.
If planning permission goes ahead it is slated to open in mid-2016, drawing thousands of people from the region, boosting tourism and expanding the county’s economic base.
The resort, on 23 acres overlooking Potomac River, would include a 300-suite, glass tower hotel, a concert theatre, restaurants, high end stores, a spa as well as 3,600 slot machines and 140 gaming tables.
