Twentieth Century Fox eager for slice of China market
China’s appeal shows no sign of abating, as Twentieth Century Fox continues its drive to find new sites for theme parks and local Chinese partners to help make new attractions a reality.
Jeffrey Godsick, president of 21st Century Fox consumer products division, said the Fox group was already involved in promising talks. "China offers something that probably no other country in the world does,” he said. “We're talking with several major companies. The government is always involved and the government has been very supportive in certain places.”
There'll be no shortage of competition, with around 60 theme parks under construction in China, including Shanghai Disney Resort opening in 2016 and Universal Studios Beijing, opening in 2019.
Twentieth Century Fox will open its first amusement park in Malaysia in 2016 and its second park in South Korea by 2018.
