Exclusive: DLL embarks on major virtual fitness rollout
David Lloyd Leisure (DLL) is working to ramp up its group exercise offering with the introduction of virtual fitness studios across nearly 60 of its 83 UK health clubs.
The project has seen DLL increase its number of virtual studios from 2 to 47 in the past 12 months, with a further 10 planned over the next 12 weeks.
Having treated members at DLL Raynes Park to the UK’s first ever Immersive Fitness studio last year, the operator now wants to add more class options across the country through the virtual rollout.
Teaming up with Fitbox and Hutchison (AV technology) for the install, DLL currently carries Les Mills Virtual classes and The Sufferfest in health clubs, with plans to extend this offering through further options.
“We’ve had a terrific response at the sites where we’ve brought in virtual fitness studios, and we want to expand this on a broader scale,” DLL group health & fitness manager Michelle Dand told Health Club Management.
“We want to offer a number of virtual classes, such as The Sufferfest – which we’ve found has a really broad appeal and is particularly popular with our older members. We’ll also have another cycling-based class in the shape of Les Mills RPM.”
