Steve Philpott – former head of David Lloyd Leisure and Crown Sports – has joined Energie Fitness as director and shareholder to support the board with its future expansion plans.

Part of BluSky Holdings, Energie was set up six months ago as an investment vehicle by Gian Spaticchia and Peter Sage in order to exploit new investment opportunities across a range of different markets.

According to BluSky CEO Spaticchia, Philpott has helped the company develop the brand and formulate strategy and acquisition plans over the past year, and he will play a critical role in helping to implement future plans.

Philpott still holds a number of important roles within the UK's fitness industry. As well as holding directorships within the Fitness Industry Association (FIA), the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and the Fitness Alliance, he is also chief executive of Face to Face Retention Systems and Training plus a director of at Audio-Visual Leisure Products.
