Technogym to donate equipment as part of social good campaign

By Matthew Campelli    10 Jan 2017
The Let's Move campaign was present in 513 fitness clubs around the world in 2016

Technogym is planning to give away some of its equipment to local communities as part of its Let’s Move for a Better World Campaign.

Between 12-31 March 2017, participating fitness clubs will be able to monitor the movement of gym members against predefined movement targets.

The more active the club, the bigger the donation Technogym will make to a local community association of their choice.

Participants’ physical activity will be logged through Technogym’s MOVE measuring capability, which operates through the supplier’s mywellness cloud.

Last year 60 UK-based facilities took part compared to 513 worldwide. Crow Wood Leisure Centre in Burnley took first place for a second year running with 3.1m moves out of 27m logged across the country.

Around 122,000 participants competed across 21 nations in 2016, completing more than 400m moves.

Andrew Brown, director of Crow Wood Leisure Centre, said the achievement of the club contributed to £20,000 worth of exercise equipment being donated to local schools.

The campaign in 2016 had a positive knock-on effect for clubs in terms of visitors and memberships.

Visits to the clubs increased by 29 per cent, while membership numbers surged by 16 per cent.
