Liverpool to get £260m regeneration of Anfield
A £260m proposal to regenerate an area in and around Anfield football ground has been revealed in Liverpool.
The plans for the Anfield stadium, which are subject to a public consultation, would see Liverpool FC's ground expanded by 15,000 seats.
296 properties in the area would have to be demolished to make way for the planned developments. Liverpool FC and Liverpool City Council have bought up a number of houses that have since entered a state of decay ahead of the stadium expansion.
The stadium expansion, which would include the development of the Main Stand and Anfield Road Stand, could conceivably be completed by 2016.
The regeneration would also see the creation of a wide avenue through Stanley Park, which would end in a new public square area.
The new plans will see the construction of a new primary school, health centre, 250 new homes and a 100-room hotel in the area as well as a new business hub.
