Coronavirus delays opening of teamLab SuperNature Macao
The opening of teamLab's SuperNature Macao museum of immersive digital artworks in Macau, China, has been delayed until further notice as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
Originally due to open this month, the 5,000sq m (54,000sq ft), the attraction is located in an expo hall at Sands Resorts Macao's Venetian Macao hotel.
It comprises a "labyrinthine" layout of gallery spaces that visitors will make their way through with interactive artworks aimed at blurring the boundaries between people’s bodies and art.
It is described by teamLab as "an extremely complex, three-dimensional world with varying elevations filled with a group of heavily immersive, ever-changing artworks."
Announcing the destination's delayed opening, the collective said: "The postponement is part of Sands Resorts Macao and teamLab’s precautions to ensure the health and safety of all team members, visitors and guests. We will continue to work closely with local authorities and are actively following guidelines on appropriate preventive measures in response to the situation."
