The Springs Resort to complete major expansion, doubling pools and adding two-level spa
The Springs Resort in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, is set to complete a game-changing expansion this month, doubling its guestrooms and geothermal soaking pools while introducing a new spa, enhanced programming and an elevated dining concept.
Perched above The Mother Spring – claimed to be the world’s deepest geothermal hot spring – the resort’s transformation will take it to 157 guest rooms and 51 soaking pools, terraced along the San Juan River.
The expansion also includes a new adults-only relaxation area and a family-friendly wellness zone, ensuring options for all guests.
An all-new spa
The Springs’ upcoming two-level, geothermal-inspired spa will be home to 12 treatment rooms, including a private geothermal pool suite for couples.
Designed with handcrafted stonework and panoramic mountain views, the spa will emphasise the healing power of hydrotherapy and also offer evidence-based treatments.
Signature offerings will include the Aqua Resonance Reset, a Tibetan singing bowl experience in mineral-rich water, and the Pagosa Stone Massage, which will use heated river stones to ease muscle tension.
Other treatments will include the Therabody Rapid-Recovery Treatment, a guided Mother’s Mud Experience, and magnesium-based body therapies.
The spa’s Panoramic Sauna, a new wellness feature, will incorporate halotherapy to promote respiratory health and relaxation, while the Thermal Studio will offer guided thermal rituals.
Guests will also be able to unwind in pre-treatment soaking pools, including waterfall-fed hydrotherapy pools designed to complement spa treatments.
Mindful movementBeyond the spa, the resort will be updated with a movement and yoga studio, enhanced outdoor wellness spaces, and direct access to hiking and biking trails. The newly added Contrast Falls will offer an approachable contrast bathing experience, combining hot geothermal water with river-fed cold plunges.
Additional highlights will include a Reflexology Walk, a Cold Rush plunge pool and a dedicated Wellness Activity Pool featuring guided experiences such as aqua yoga and floating meditation.
In May, the resort’s new signature restaurant, Wild Finch, will debut, offering an inventive indoor-outdoor dining experience. A new poolside dining venue, 1881 Poolside Provisions, will also open, serving a curated selection of shareable plates, cocktails, and wellness-focused refreshments. Meanwhile, modern event spaces will provide a scenic setting for meetings and special occasions.
Sharon Holtz, the resort’s VP of wellness, said: "This is more than an expansion. It’s a defining moment for hot springs wellness in the US.
"At a time when travellers are seeking deeper, more transformative wellbeing experiences, we’re setting a new standard. With this evolution, The Springs Resort is bringing even more opportunities to immerse in Soakology – our signature approach to water-based wellness through curated activities and soaking experiences."
The project has been guided by Holtz and medical director Dr Marcus Coplin, ND.
Owned by Olympus Real Estate Group, The Springs Resort’s revitalisation is part of the company’s wider efforts to breathe new life into historic US hot spring destinations, including Murrieta Hot Springs in California.
